Baracoa is the first region of cultivation of high quality Trinitario cocoa in Cuba. This mountainous region is located in the eastern part of the island, in the province of Guantanamo. Cacao has been grown here for over 300 years, and cacao trees thrive particularly well in the fertile soils of the mountain valleys.
The cocoa beans from the Baracoa region offer notes of roasted dried fruit, caramel and even light tobacco on the finish and a very balanced bitterness.
